VERANO

WHAT YOU ARE WE WERE, WHAT WE ARE YOU WILL BE

It all started with the idea of paying homage to the tomb of a famous theater actor,

Ettore Petrolini, who died prematurely in Rome in 1936.

So I visited the monumental cemetery of Rome named “Verano”. And as for other great cemeteries seen, I think of the Père-Lachaise in Paris, I was fascinated by the sumptuousness of some tombs and by the strong sense of serenity that they instilled in me.

However, I also noticed how the cemetery is a city that "lives" on the edge of the inhabited city, how sometimes a single ray of sunshine can create a sort of hell and heaven among the tomb cells and how strong the symbolism is in wanting to celebrate the dead.
